Rap Shop
Many people thought (wished?) that the genre of music called rap would be just a passing phase. But rap music has proved to be very durable. Born in U.S. ghettos, it has spread throughout the world and is more popular than ever today.
Rap texts can be used to great advantage in English teaching, e.g. as the ideal ‘appetizer’ when introducing new topics, as a ‘motivator’ to stimulate sagging interest, or as a kind of reward for completing a topic. (The raps marked with an asterisk are the ‘bestsellers’.) More importantly, the rhyme, rhythm and motion of rapping is ideally suited to learning English.
